(Students ages 15 to 17)
(NOTE 1) STEPS TO OBTAIN YOUR TEXAS LEARNERS LICENSE
- The waiting period to receive an appointment to pick up your Texas Learner's License (permit) at the Driving License Office (DLO) in the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex, including Waxahachie, is very lengthy (approximately 2 to 4 months).
- Click this link ( https://public.txdpsscheduler.com ) to schedule your appointment to pick-up your permit at the DLO. Select the caterory, "First Time Driver License Holder / Permit"" when scheduling your appointment.
- All teens must take the teen 32 hours class (either in the classroom with an instructor or on-line self-pace. The permit test is included in this class.
- After completing the class, go to your previously schedule appointment at DLO and pick up the permit.
- Register and schedule in-car driving lessons at Pioneer.
- Take road test at Pioneer.
- After passing the road test, schedule your second appointment with the DLO to receive your provisional license without restrictions.
(NOTE 2) Texas Drivers Handbook
- The handbook is used in the classroom and on-line courses.
- Study the handbook prior to taking the permit test.
